About Annesley Abercorn

Annesley was born in London. He spent the first two years of his life in South London before moving to North London where he attended Highgate School. Later, Annesley was educated at the University of London. He currently works as an Adviser to The Rt. Hon Oliver Letwin MP – Chair of the Conservative Research Department – in the House of Commons. Annesley is also the Chairman of the Bow Group, which is a leading and influential Conservative think tank.

Annesley is a committed patriot who is proud of our country’s institutions and diverse heritage. He joined the Conservative Party because he believes it to be the Party that always put the interests of Britain first. In addition, he believes in personal freedom within the rule of law, individual choice, social mobility, and empowering professionals to run important public services such as the NHS and schools.

Annesley cares passionately about social justice and is concerned about the pockets of multiple deprivation that are increasingly found in a country as wealthy as the UK. He is hugely inspired by the thoughtful work of The Rt. Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP through his Centre for Social Justice.

Annesley has previously served on the National Executive of Conservative Future where he was responsible for political events and was Chairman of London Western Conservative Future (LWCF). During his time as Chairman of LWCF, membership rose by 50%. He has also served as Deputy Chairman of the Brent East Conservative Association and has stood as a local government candidate for the London Borough of Brent.

Annesley has also worked for a number of Conservative MPs and organisations, having addressed the Conservative Party Conference in 2001, 2002, and 2004. He has also spoken at the Conservative Party Spring Forums in 2002 and 2003.
At school, Annesley was a keen debater and won the 2001 school mock election for the Conservatives by 3 votes against the Liberal Democrats. He hopes to deliver an even better victory for the Conservatives in Hazel Grove. He has also had TV presenter training and has served as a school governor for an inner city primary school in North West London.

Annesley will be campaigning very strongly on local issues that affect local people. He will be there to help anyone regardless of political affiliation and will always put the residents of Hazel Grove first. Some of the big issues in Hazel Grove include the A6 bypass; local crime and anti-social behaviour; and ensuring better value for money from local Council Tax instead of the many gimmicks introduced by the Lib Dem controlled Stockport Borough Council. Annesley will be focusing on campaigning for action and delivery on these key local issues. This is what the people of Hazel Grove deserve. We look forward to your support.

Annesley’s 5 Key Pledges for Hazel Grove

• Strive for lower Council Tax and better value for money from Stockport Council.
• Fight for the completion of the A6 bypass to relieve the area of congestion, pollution and noise.
• Fight hard for more police patrolling the local area so that we can clamp down on crime and anti-social behaviour.
• Campaign to protect our green spaces and clean up neglected areas that have accumulated litter and broken glass over the years.
• Be there to serve all Hazel Grove constituents regardless of how you vote and to be a locally based and easily accessible Member of Parliament.
